Dumbbell Upright Row

While this is a solid exercise for building those shoulders up on your pull day, it also prioritizes scapular control. By being able to stabilize the scaps, pull strength in the shoulder joint and surrounding muscles will naturally increase. Working this is important as many shoulder injuries can be traced back to dysfunction or lack of strength in the muscles surrounding the scapula.
To accurately perform scapular control in the upright row, be sure you keep the shoulders back and pulled down.

Some other benefits of the Dumbbell Upright Row are improved mobility, better posture, increased athletic performance for other lifts, it’s efficiency as a multi-joint movement, as well as aesthetic and strength gains.
This exercise engages the anterior, lateral, and posterior delts, traps, and the rhomboids.
