As you heard we will be rotating through 4 content topics. Week 1 will always be Training, week 2 will always be Mindset, week 3 will always Lifestyle, and week 4 will always be Nutrition.
Habit 1:
Keep it moving.
Move your body as much as you can throughout the day, every day. Staying active, burning those calories is essential for your body and the only way to get on and stay on the progress train.
Whether its while you’re at work, when you first wake up in the morning, later in the day, whenever… get up and get moving. I know what it’s like to have a sedentary job and also on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, a super active job where you don’t stop moving the entire shift. I’ve noticed the days I’m just simply moving more whether at work or not, obviously are days I burn more calories, get the steps in, close my Apple Watch rings, etc etc… BUT ALSO have turned out to be days more emotionally and mentally positive days. Just like the famous quote from Legally Blonde… “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t shoot their husbands… they just don’t.” As goofy as the quote itself is, it’s a great one to stand by and tuck into the back of your brain day to day. Keeping your body moving not only makes your body feel good but your mind as well and thats the biggest win of all.
Habit 2:
Eat consciously and substantially for your lifestyle.
It’s so easy to stay stuck in an eating routine that you’ve gotten yourself used to for a period to time whether it be weeks, months or even years. Once you’re changing up your routine (i.e. starting on a new workout plan, changing jobs, changing the TYPE of workouts you’re doing) your eating has to change along with it. We strive to power our bodies with both the right foods and the right amounts of foods. We can’t fully use your bodies to their best abilities when they’re running on fumes or on an energy source that it can’t pull as much out of. Feed your body in a way that makes it easy to sustain your current or new goals. You’ll thank yourself later and so will your body.
Habit 3:
Have a routine, even with an unpredictable schedule.
I, more than most, have always have a schedule that was all over the place. Working 2-3 part time jobs at a time at all times ever since I graduated from college has made it so having a set schedule and a “normal” routine, a complete joke. The key to staying even slightly sane when to comes to keeping my works, workouts and life in general not a complete mess is not only organization but also routine. Whether it’s having a set time to wake up in the morning whether you have to or not for work, to eating at least one meal a day at the same time everyday, to making sure you take your vitamins/supplements everyday…everyone needs A routine. And your routine is going to differ so greatly from literally anyone else as your schedule/life/needs are not the same as the next person. Its going to take time, trail and error to figure out what is the most ideal for you and what keeps you the most sane, but the mental and emotional payout in the end has never been more worth it.
Habit 4:
Find your stress release and incorporate it into that routine.
Stress is different for everyone and so is your stress reliever. Some people meditate to get rid of stress, my brain personally doesn’t understand the act and concept of meditation and when I’ve tried I just get more frustrated but wow do I love a good stretch in the morning with some of my favorite music in the background. You know what else I love to do?
Chill on my porch with an iced coffee in hand listening to a true crime podcast.
Cook a delicious meal or baking some treats for my friends.
Head into the woods or on a hiking trail, listening to nature, phone tucked away into my fanny pack
Lay in bed watching an interesting documentary I can get lost in with my essential oil diffuser going.
These are top of the list but I could go on and on. You may not be into any of these things but you might love to go fishing or shoot some hoops for a break from reality for a bit. The world is wild and unpredictable and stress inducing almost always, cope with it in the way you know that helps. Find your releases, add them to your routine and make yourself a happier and more relaxed you.
Habit 5:
Don’t diminish your success.
Success comes in so many forms and types. There’s big wins, little wins, physical wins, mental, emotional, financial and everything in between. We constantly set goals for ourselves even if you don’t realize it. And just because you’ve already reached your one goal that you set in place doesn’t make it any less amazing that you accomplished that. We can always do better. That’s essential to have that a part of your mindset, as an ever growing and evolving creature but you cannot take away from yourself the things that have gotten you to where you are now. Recognize your success, see it for what it is and celebrate it in whatever way you see fit. Take it in, take the time to realize what it took within yourself to accomplish that goal and begin to start on your next one. 'You're doing amazing sweetie”. Keep it up, keep killing it and don’t stop forgetting why you did it in the first place.
